Hi! I’m Matt Brain.
My work as a draftsperson is based on many years working in different trades and the creative fields, such as set building, sculpture, and the construction industry. I have worked on numerous exhibit fabrication and installation projects form Yellowknife to Miami, including science centers, museums, events, ski hills, sales centers and retail locations.
From people wanting to build their dream tiny-home, to ”oddball” inventors submitting exciting new technology for patents, drawing has played a role in all the work that I have done.
I love seeing the renewed enjoyment my clients get from their new deck or addition, and appreciate the challenges of working with the existing land and space, and finding the right aesthetic to fit each project.
Through working in various creative fields I have gained an understanding of what is needed for a project to be planned properly, essential details for submissions, and how to help people through creative blocks and budgetary concerns by creating drawings that bring greater perspective.
As an artist I have an eye for aesthetics, balance and design. As a carpenter and craftsperson, I know how things in the real world need to work and fit together, and the practical concerns that face my clients taking on a construction project, or just at the beginning stages of planning for one.
